Ouagadougou: The Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) have carried out significant military operations this week in Burkina Faso, combining ground offensives and air strikes across multiple regions. These operations have resulted in the neutralization of many terrorists and the recovery or destruction of a substantial amount of equipment, as reported by security sources.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Air Force targeted several columns of criminals on November 30, 2024, in Barani and Taffogo, thwarting their attempts to organize hostile actions. Ground units subsequently combed the areas to complete the operation. On November 28, 2024, armed groups hiding under trees in the Kantchari area were detected and targeted, followed by a decisive ground intervention. The same day, the 23rd Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) engaged with armed groups in the Kosse area, repelling the attackers and seizing war equipment.

On November 26, 2024, the Air
Force was mobilized after an attack in the Bilanga area near Kouri. Effective coordination between airstrikes and ground units led to the neutralization of fleeing criminals and the capture of their equipment. During the logistical escort of the 4th group between Arbinda and Gorgadji, an ambush was foiled, thanks to aerial surveillance. The attackers were detected and annihilated, with their equipment recovered. An enemy logistics convoy spotted in Wambsouya was also destroyed, with precise strikes reducing it to ashes.

As the convoy advanced towards Arbinda on November 27, 2024, criminals gathered in an abandoned hamlet were spotted and neutralized by airstrikes. In the Boucle du Mouhoun region, ground operations intensified, with the VDP ambushing an armed group in the Silmimossi area on November 24, 2024, neutralizing several individuals and recovering military equipment. Similar successes were reported in the Doumbala area, where the VDP inflicted heavy losses on criminal groups.

An attack on an Armed F
orces outpost in Bani on November 24, 2024, was quickly countered by aerial intervention, slowing the attackers’ escape and allowing ground troops to neutralize many and recover usable equipment.

These operations, marked by perfect coordination between land units and air forces, have resulted in the neutralization of dozens of criminals, the destruction of their logistics, and the recovery of a significant arsenal. The determination of the FDS and the VDP underscores their unwavering commitment, patriotism, and spirit of sacrifice in the fight against terrorism, striving to ensure peace and security for the population.
