Intelligence driven joint operation results in arrest of six suspects for possession of dagga and illicit cigarettes

An Intelligence driven joint operation conducted at Tubatse policing precinct in Sekhukhune District, resulted in the arrest of six suspects aged between 21 and 26 including a woman for possession of a large quantity of dagga and illicit cigarettes on Thursday 07 September 2023.

The District Combating Crime Unit comprised of VISPOL members from Driekop, Mecklenburg, Apel together with Burgesfort Crime Intelligence Unit. The operation was activated after intelligence was gathered by members of Illegal Mining Task Team about a syndicate allegedly selling drugs to school children in Ribacross Village.

The information was operationalised and six suspects were arrested and 10kg of dagga and illicit cigarettes were seized. The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has applauded the collaborative effort which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Tubatse Magistrate’s Court soon facing, each to face a charge of possession and dealing in dagga and illicit cigarettes. Police investigations continue.
