Fada n'gourma: The International Committee of the Thomas Sankara Memorial (CIMTS) inaugurated the Goulmou regional focal point for the Memorial on Friday, December 5, 2025, in Fada N'Gourma. The ceremony, which brought together key stakeholders, authorities, and supporters, marks an important step in the national effort to establish the organization's local branches.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Goulmou regional focal point is composed of nine members and was installed by a delegation from the national committee. Colonel Y. Georges Namoano, a member of the committee, stated that this establishment responds to the CIMTS's desire to extend its presence across Burkina Faso.

"These focal points have the mission of promoting the ideals of Thomas Sankara, in particular the implementation of the actions of the progressive and popular revolution," he said. Colonel Namoano also highlighted the importance of these facilities in preserving and promoting "the memory of the hero Thomas Sankara whose vision has crossed the entire continent."

The members of the Goulmou focal point are expected to work diligently to perpetuate and disseminate the values championed by the father of the Burkinabe Revolution. Colonel Namoano assured them of the national committee's support through planned activities.

The sponsor, Dr. Boalidioa Tankoano, special envoy to the Presidency of Faso for the Goulmou region, provided guidance to the new officials, urging them to remain faithful to the path laid out by Thomas Sankara. He encouraged them to act in the spirit of Sankara, promoting pan-Africanism and the ideals of comrade Thomas Sankara.

Dr. Tankoano stressed the importance of openness and unity, stating, "The focal points must be people who mobilize without excluding. It is at this price that they will be able to forever engrave the memory of Thomas Sankara."

Saidou Thiombiano, the first regional coordinator of Goulmou, reaffirmed his team's commitment to promoting Sankarist ideals throughout the region. "Your mission is ours, your vision is ours, your commitment is ours," he declared, expressing the collective determination to honor Captain Thomas Sankara's legacy among the people of Goulmou.
