Information Sessions Set Stage for New Keetmanshoop Vocational Training Centre

Keetmanshoop: The Keetmanshoop Vocational Training Centre (VTC) is reaching out to eligible youth, encouraging them to explore vocational tertiary education opportunities in various fields. The new VTC, slated to welcome its first batch of trainees in 2026, is regulated and supported by the Namibia Training Authority (NTA), which is actively recruiting staff for the upcoming centre.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the NTA has been conducting outreach initiatives across the ||Kharas Region to inform prospective students about this new vocational training opportunity. The authority, in collaboration with the VTC and other stakeholders, organized information sessions in locations such as Keetmanshoop, Lderitz, Karasburg, and several other towns. They also participated in the Keetmanshoop Agricultural, Industrial and Tourism Expo to reach a wider audience.

Mornay Louw, NTA's Manager of Corporate Communications and Marketing, stated in an interview with Nampa that the goal of these initiatives is to raise awareness among the youth in the southern region about the expanding vocational training facilities. He emphasized the importance of enrolling in courses such as mechanical and electrical trades, renewable energy installation and maintenance, and agriculture.

Louw highlighted additional courses in Logistics and Supply Chain Management for Oil and Gas, and Information and Communication Technology. He urged the youth to seize this opportunity, get qualified through the VTC, and contribute positively to society.

A prospective student from Keetmanshoop expressed her enthusiasm about applying for the solar installation and maintenance course, noting the abundance of job opportunities in the solar energy sector within the ||Kharas Region. She encouraged her peers to take advantage of these opportunities and focus on building a productive future.

Applications for the January 2026 intake will close on December 5, 2025.
