Indonesian Ambassador Marvels at Addis Ababa’s Transformation

ADDIS ABABA — Indonesian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Al Busyra Basnur, expressed amazement at the rapid development of Addis Ababa, noting significant urban progress since his arrival five years ago.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Ambassador Basnur praised the visible transformation of Addis Ababa during an exclusive interview, highlighting the corridor development projects that have notably enhanced the city’s infrastructure and public services. These initiatives have not only improved the livability of the city for residents and visitors but have also elevated its status as a modern city in Africa. The ambassador described the changes he has witnessed as “unbelievable,” citing new parks, buildings, libraries, and museums that have been established in the city.

Ambassador Basnur emphasized the importance of these developments for attracting foreign interest in Addis Ababa, not only for tourism but also for broader cooperation. He was particularly struck by the widened roads and improved urban lighting, elements that starkly contrast with the city’s state when he first arrived. The ambassador’s experience in Ethiopia extends beyond the capital; he has traveled extensively across the country, engaging with various regions, remote areas, and making numerous local connections.

Reflecting on his time in Ethiopia, Ambassador Basnur remarked on the country’s rich cultural heritage and its ongoing economic transformation. He noted Ethiopia’s strides in infrastructure development, industrialization, and enhancements in social services, underscoring the country’s potential for rapid development in various sectors including economy, culture, education, and science.
