Indian Government Ready to Mobilize Private Sector to Invest in Angola

Luanda: The government of India on Sunday expressed its willingness to mobilize the private sector to invest in Angola, in order to find solutions based on the country’s development challenges. This intention was expressed by the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Shri Kirti Singh, during his speech at the Angola/India Business Forum, organized as part of the visit of Angolan President Joo Louren§o.



According to Angola Press News Agency, the aim is not only to strengthen supply chains, but also to create new jobs and provide solutions in line with Angola’s development, adding that India also wants to provide scholarships in various fields. Indian companies are expected to play a significant role in the development of infrastructure in Angola.



Kirti Singh highlighted the strengths of India’s healthcare system, suggesting that Angola could benefit by adopting traditional medical solutions that have historically benefited Indians. This area presents an opportunity for both nations to collaborate and bring this knowledge to Angola.



The Indian official also expressed interest in collaborating with Angola on the creation of smart cities, which could integrate technology to improve urban living conditions and efficiency.



The President of the Confederation of Indian Industries, Sanjiv Puri, stated that Angola’s openness to Indian entrepreneurs is a privilege. He noted that the Indian economy is bolstered by digital reforms and initiatives focused on human resource development. The industrial sector, renewable energy, and mineral exploration, such as diamonds, copper, and zinc, are areas of great interest to Indian investors.



Sanjiv Puri suggested collaboration on “smart city” projects, which could significantly enhance the infrastructure and quality of life in Angola. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Confederation of Indian Industries to support and enhance business relations between India and Angola.
