OUAGADOUGOU — Ndeye Comba Diop, the new director of the International Labor Organization's (ILO) regional office in Abidjan, announced on Tuesday her institution's commitment to assist Burkina Faso in enhancing social dialogue and improving population well-being.
According to Burkina Information Agency, during a meeting with the Minister of State in charge of Social Protection, Bassolma Bazié, she reiterated the ILO's dedication to supporting Burkina Faso's developmental and social objectives. Appointed on October 24, 2023, Diop is currently touring the six countries under her administration, including Ivory Coast, Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and Togo, to bolster cooperation and provide expertise.
The Director General of Labor for Burkina Faso, Roland W. Sawadogo, outlined the nation's expectations from the ILO, which include promoting decent work, combating child labor, and enhancing social protection and migration policies. The ILO plans to provide both technical and financial support to address these areas, aligning with government-defined guidelines.
Diop's visit to Ouagadougou also aims to strengthen the collaborative efforts between the ILO and the Burkinabe government by aligning with the Minister of State's strategies and receiving guidance on future projects.
