Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team, Warrenton Crime Prevention members as well as Department of Nature Conservation officials conducted a disruptive operation at an identified property in Warrenton. The team received information from an informer and an operation was undertaken on Wednesday, 11 October 2023.

In preparation for the operation the team obtained a J51 search and seizure warrant. Upon searching the property police recovered a 22 long Norinco rifle. A 63-year-old male was immediately arrested for illegal possession of firearm.

The suspect is expected to make a brief court appearance before Warrenton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 12 October 2023.
