Igembe South – Noah Tonui Kibet, the Deputy County Commissioner of Igembe South, has emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining security. He urged residents to adopt a proactive stance in reporting criminal activities to authorities, highlighting the need for a collective approach to security.

According to Kenya News Agency, effective security management requires the participation of the entire community. He pointed out that even petty theft could be curbed through vigilance and prompt reporting to the relevant government agencies. Tonui stressed the vital role of community collaboration in identifying and reporting lawbreakers.

In his address, Tonui acknowledged the efforts made in combating the theft of bodabodas (motorbike taxis) and the significant reduction of illicit brews in the area. He credited these achievements to the joint efforts of local authorities, chiefs, and community policing members.

Tonui linked the prevalence of insecurity to the consumption and sale of illicit brews and substance abuse. He warned those engaged in such activities of severe repercussions if found by law enforcement. He emphasized that these practices pose threats to both social and economic development.

The Deputy County Commissioner called upon residents to prioritize peace and harmony, underscoring their critical role in fostering a secure environment. He highlighted the necessity of immediate reporting of suspected criminals to the relevant authorities as a key measure to reduce insecurity incidents.

Tonui also encouraged the public to share intelligence information with security agencies, underscoring the impact such cooperation can have in enhancing security and reducing the crime rate in the area.

Nanyuki, Laikipia County – In a significant crackdown on illegal drug trade, the Nanyuki police force confiscated bhang with a street value of Sh5 million and apprehended two suspects. This operation marks a notable success in the ongoing efforts against the illicit drug market in the region.



According to Kenya News Agency, the seizure occurred on Saturday when a vehicle, a Toyota Fielder with registration number KCZ 858 R, was intercepted during transit from Tanzania to an undisclosed location in Meru. The police, acting on a tip from the public, discovered 50 packages of bhang in the vehicle. The driver, identified as David Othiambo, and another occupant, John Okech, were arrested at the scene and are currently detained at Nanyuki police station. They are scheduled to be arraigned in court on Monday.



Commander Nyoike stated that the seized bhang consisted of dried bales of cannabis sativa, each package containing four bales. The police are continuing their investigation to determine the intended recipients of the drug consignment. The commander also issued a stern warning to those involved in illegal drug activities, emphasizing the heightened vigilance of law enforcement agencies in dismantling drug cartels.



The Laikipia County Police expressed gratitude towards the local community for their assistance in providing crucial information that led to the successful operation. This collaborative effort between the police and the public highlights the community’s role in combating illegal activities and maintaining law and order in the region.
