OUAGADOUGOU – Noregma Boukari Alexis Thélesphore Bagré, renowned for his captivating phrase ‘Runda tond bé yè?’ on Rural Radio, died on Friday in Ouagadougou at the age of 75.



According to Burkina Information Agency, passed away on June 7, 2024. He was a journalist by profession and held various significant roles within the Burkinabè government throughout his career. Initially, as a presenter on Rural Radio, he became well-known for his engaging introduction on the program ‘Burkinavarieties’, where he invited participants to name their locality. The program aimed to raise awareness and foster discovery, allowing residents in remote areas to discuss major social issues and introducing listeners to diverse regions of Burkina Faso.



Bagré also contributed to the public sector as the Director of Human Resources at the Ministry of Information and served as a member of the Council of Burkinabè Orders and director of Rural Radio. His political career included two terms as the mayor of Boussé, from 2000 to 2012, where he was remembered for his dedication to socio-economic development and his deep connection to his community. Despite his advancing age, Bagré remained active in community events and responsive to public service requests until recently. His last notable public engagement was in December 2023, at an awards ceremony in Boussé.



He is survived by his wife and five children.
