ICGLR Prepares to Host Forum for Women Parliamentarians in Arusha

Luanda: The Parliamentary Forum of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (FP-ICGLR) is making arrangements to hold a significant Forum for Women Parliamentarians in Arusha, Tanzania, slated for November. The announcement was made by FP-ICGLR Secretary-General Deo Osmund Mwapinga during a meeting with Speaker of the Angola National Assembly, Ado de Almeida.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Mr. Mwapinga revealed that the upcoming Arusha meeting is anticipated to gather approximately 150 participants. As the president of the FP-ICGLR, he shared the action plan for the event, including the Plenary Assembly and the Forum for Women Parliamentarians, with the leader of the Angolan Parliament.

The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) was established in 2006 as an intergovernmental organization aimed at fostering peace, stability, and development in Central Africa. The ICGLR, consisting of 12 member states, concentrates on security, good governance, and conflict resolution, with its primary legal framework being the Nairobi Pact.

The organization's broader goals include addressing regional political instability through collective efforts focused on democracy, good governance, human rights, and sustainable development.
