Ouagadougou: The Director General of the National Office of Dams and Hydro-Agricultural Development (ONBAH), Commander Yaya TRAOR€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬°, visited the construction site of the Sanghin dam in the Centre-Nord region to assess the progress of the work.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Commander TRAOR€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬° expressed satisfaction with the construction’s progress, which has reached approximately 61% completion. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the project’s completion and urged all stakeholders to maintain their efforts. TRAOR€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬° highlighted the professionalism of the construction company involved, noting the quality and level of the work accomplished so far.
The Sanghin dam, upon completion, will have a capacity of 123 million cubic meters and will enable the development of around 400 hectares for local producers. This project aligns with the goals of the “Agropastoral and Fisheries Offensive 2023-2025,” aiming to boost agricultural yields. Additionally, the dam is expected to provide a reliable source of drinking water to local households.
The project, entirely funded by the Burkinabe government, is scheduled for completion in August 2025.
