Ouagadougou: Young people provide means of communication to VD The Hurnogo Youth Association for Development and Social Cohesion (AHJDCS) donated five radios to the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) of the Yargatenga commune on Monday, July 13, 2026, in order to strengthen their operational capabilities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the handover ceremony, presided over by the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Yargatenga, Mahamadou Saramb, took place within the prefecture premises, in the presence of the local military and paramilitary authorities. Valued at an estimated 300,000 CFA francs, the donation consists of five radios commonly known as "walkie-talkies." This initiative was made possible thanks to the contributions of the sons and daughters of the Yargatenga commune.

On behalf of the government, PDS Mahamadou Saramb commended the AHJDCS's gesture and expressed his gratitude to the donating association. He hoped the equipment would be used wisely to improve security in the community. Taking the opportunity, the prefect invited the population to respect the security instructions in order to facilitate the mission of the defense and security forces.

According to Denis Souman, secretary of the AHJDCS, the acquisition of the equipment was made possible thanks to the mobilization of resources by the sons and daughters of the commune. He thanked all the contributors who participated in this initiative. The deputy head of the VDP (Voluntary Delegation for the Development of the Commune), Hamado Sanan, expressed his satisfaction and thanked AHJDCS (Association for the Defense of Youth and Community Development) as well as all the donors. He assured them that the beneficiaries would make good use of the equipment, which would help improve communication and coordination of field operations.

"This equipment will strengthen our communication capacity on the ground," he said, while expressing his hope that peace and security would return to the entire national territory. This allocation thus strengthens the means of action of the VDP of Yargatenga in their mission to secure the commune and reflects the solidarity of the populations, in particular its youth, towards the forces engaged in the defence of the territory.
