Huracan Secures Crucial Win Over Sarmiento in Argentine Primera Division

BUENOS AIRES—Huracan clinched a significant 3-1 victory against Sarmiento on Friday, securing vital points to sustain their challenge for the title in Argentina’s Primera Division. Two late goals ensured the home team kept the pressure on league leaders Velez Sarsfield.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Fernando Tobio opened the scoring for Huracan in the 16th minute, but Ivan Morales brought Sarmiento level with a goal at the half-hour mark. The match remained evenly poised until De La Fuente put Huracan ahead again in the 77th minute. The win was sealed when Sarmiento's Lucas Acosta inadvertently scored an own goal during the first minute of stoppage time.

This victory places Huracan second in the league standings, with 31 points from 17 games, just two points shy of Velez Sarsfield. Meanwhile, Sarmiento remains near the bottom of the table, ranked 23rd with 18 points.

In another match on Friday, Central Cordoba extended their winning streak by defeating Union Santa Fe 2-0 away from home. Goals from Juan Meli and Manuel Palavecino in each half contributed to their team's fourth consecutive win in the Primera Division and fifth across all competitions.
