A 23-year-old suspect positively linked with murder case of Masemola taxi owner

Members of SAPS in Limpopo Sekhukhune Tracking Team apprehended a 23-year-old suspect who was positively linked with the murder of a taxi owner at Masemola village.

According to reports, on Monday, 12 June 2023 at around 20h00 the deceased was found by community members with gunshot wounds along R579 next to Phokoane village. They were alerted and murder case was opened for investigations.

Following intensive investigations, it was discovered that the deceased was a local Taxi owner. His vehicle, Toyota Quantum minibus was hijacked and he was also shot dead during the incident.

The minibus was later recovered at Nebo Policing area, and some parts of vehicle were missing. Investigations unfolded until when other parts were recovered. A 23-year-old suspect was then arrested for possession of suspected stolen vehicle and was positively linked with a murder case.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the investigating team for efforts displayed, which paid-off well and the involved culprit was linked with the murder and arrested.

He will appear before Nebo magistrate court on Friday, 04 August 2023. The Police investigations are still ongoing.
