Human Remains Discovered in Kavango West Village

Kavango west: Human remains identified to be those of a missing mother and child were discovered on Saturday afternoon in a field near Gcaruhwa village in the Kavango West Region.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the Namibian Police weekend incident report issued on Sunday revealed that the skeletal remains of the adult and one-year-old child were discovered around 14h00 by a cattle herder grazing livestock in the area.

Family members have identified the remains as those of Annastasia Mbunze Hausiku and her infant son, known as Mapeu, based on clothing found at the scene.

According to the report, the deceased left their home in early August 2025, reportedly travelling to the Gcaruhwa clinic. The family had been searching for the missing pair since their disappearance.

The police investigations into the matter continue.
