Huíla: The provincial government of Huíla has identified approximately 500 kilometers of secondary and tertiary roads on the outskirts of Lubango that are in poor condition and has launched actions to mobilize resources from the national treasury to repair them. The municipality of Lubango, in addition to having the largest number of inhabitants, concentrating 27% of the province's total population, is also the most densely populated. According to Angola Press News Agency, the 2024 Census produced indicators showing that Lubango's small territorial extension of 1,482.8 km², combined with a high population concentration, contributes to its status as the most densely populated area in the province. More than 75% of its 978,715 inhabitants reside in 137 peripheral localities, where access and internal roads are in need of significant improvement. In the last 7 years, nearly 150 kilometers of urban and peri-urban roads have been recovered as part of the first phase of the city's integrated infrastructure. Accor ding to the governor of that province, Nuno Mahapi, in an interview with Rádio Huíla, some areas already have roads under construction as part of the second phase of Lubango's integrated infrastructure. Other areas have signed contracts but still lack the necessary resources to proceed with rehabilitation. The priority, as stated by the governor, falls on areas such as Tchioco and the Industrial Zone, which are critical due to their dense commerce and significant local revenue generation.
