Housebreaking Incidents Under Investigation in Ongwediva

Ongwediva: The Namibian Police Force in the Oshana Region is investigating two separate incidents of housebreaking with intent to steal and theft reported in Ongwediva between Monday and Friday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the first case involves a complainant who left their house on 23 December 2025 to travel to a village, entrusting someone with the responsibility of checking on the house. The entrusted individual last checked the house on Monday, when everything appeared in order. However, on 16 January 2026, the complainant was informed of a break-in. Suspects reportedly used an unknown object to smash the sitting room window to access the house, subsequently stealing various items, including a Samsung monitor, an HP laptop, clothing, a perfume bottle, and an audio box, altogether valued at N.dollars 24,800. No suspects have been apprehended, and no stolen items have been recovered thus far.

In an unrelated event, another housebreaking incident allegedly occurred between 01 January 2026 and Friday at an unspecified time in Ongwediva. The homeowner and his son returned around 23h45 after leaving on New Year's Eve to find the house door open without any forced entry. Stolen items included beds, bed sheets, mini freezers, television sets, and microwaves, with a total value of N.dollars 93,900. Similar to the first incident, no arrests have been made, and none of the stolen goods have been recovered.

Police investigations are ongoing.
