Katima mulilo: The body of 25-year-old Nguapeua Manieatara Riruako, who reportedly drowned in the Zambezi River on Wednesday while painting a newly constructed houseboat, was retrieved on Sunday afternoon at Namwi Island.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Head of Community Policing in Zambezi, Inspector Kisco Sitali, stated that a joint search by NamPol, the deceased’s colleagues, and local community members located the body on Sunday afternoon. Sitali reported that Riruako’s body was found intact after a four-day search and was identified by family members. The body was then taken to Katima Mulilo State Hospital for an autopsy.
Riruako was working on painting a new houseboat, a project he had been involved in for the past four months, when he fell into the river. Investigations are still underway, and the autopsy results will provide clarity on the exact cause of death.
