Ouagadougou: The national organizing committee of former students of Hound©, in the province of Tuy, announced plans for the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the public primary school “A Gniehoun Hafanki” in Hound©, scheduled for April 26, 2025. The announcement was made on Thursday in Ouagadougou by General Sidiki Daniel Traor©, the president of the national organizing committee.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the festivities promise an engaging array of activities. The official ceremony will feature an exhibition that traces the history of the school and presentations by various alumni. New infrastructures will be christened, and renovations will be carried out to showcase the committee’s dedication to the future of the school. Sporting events such as the “Jean Barry Cup” tournament and a cross-country race will also form part of the day’s activities. The celebration aims to preserve the legacy of the institution while fostering connections between former and current students to build a generational continuity.

General Sidiki Daniel Traor© highlighted that this anniversary is unique as it follows the 50th anniversary celebrated in 1994, which honored Mr. Daogo Mathias SORGHO, the school’s first director and a prominent political figure. This year’s celebration will pay tribute to Inspector Jean Barry, a notable individual whose contributions significantly impacted the school and the city of Hound©. Traor© emphasized that these initiatives align with the presidential goal of providing quality education for all, with a focus on improving educational conditions in the province of Tuy.

The public primary school “A Gniehoun Hafanki” in Hound© was established in 1943. This landmark celebration not only commemorates its founding but also reinforces its role in the community and its commitment to educational excellence.
