Houndé Catholic Primary School Marks a Decade of Educational Excellence


HOUNDÉ — Sainte Thérèse de l’Enfant Jésus Catholic Primary School in Houndé celebrated its 10th anniversary with a series of events from June 27 to 29, 2024, highlighting a decade of significant academic achievements and community involvement.



According to Burkina Information Agency, Félix Tiama, the celebration was graced by the presence of diocesan leaders of Catholic education and administrative authorities. The school, which opened its doors in October 2012, started with just 70 students and has grown to accommodate 385 students across 6 classes. It boasts impressive results in the Certificate of Primary Studies (CEP) exam, with pass rates of 100% in 2019 and 2024, and over 83% in the intervening years. The anniversary events included a conference on ‘The Impact of NICTs on Education,’ open days, cultural evenings, inter-class football matches, and a tree planting ceremony.



The highlight of the celebration was the thanksgiving mass and the distribution of school kits and certificates to students, teachers, and contributors to the school’s success. Dr. Fernand Nana, who sponsored the anniversary event, praised the school’s efforts and achievements. “This institution not only provides a quality education but also molds our children to be future leaders,” he noted.



The Diocesan Director of Catholic Education for Dédougou, Alfred Wilfried Dibann Ki, expressed satisfaction with the school’s performance and reassured the community of the diocese’s commitment to starting a Catholic college in Houndé, responding to a longstanding request from local stakeholders. The celebrations served not only as a reflection of the school’s past achievements but also as a commitment to future growth and community service.
