Hounde: A Land Dispute Turns Into Tragedy in Dankari

Hounde: A land dispute turned tragic on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in the village of Dankari, commune of Hounde, resulting in the death of a man in his thirties, AIB learned from concordant sources.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the events took place in the morning, around 9 a.m. The victim, aged 35, was reportedly fatally shot by a man in his sixties, following an altercation over a land dispute. The same sources indicate that the alleged perpetrator forbade the victim from picking fruit from a nere tree located on disputed land.

After an argument, the suspect allegedly went home to get a firearm, before returning to the scene and shooting the young man at point-blank range. Alerted, the law enforcement forces from Hounde, supported by the major from the Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) of Dankari, carried out the usual investigations.

The suspect has been arrested and an investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy. The victim leaves behind a widow and two children. She was buried the same day at around 6 p.m.
