Houet: The works of Dr Dramane Konaté on screen

As part of the mini Pan-African Film Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) in Bobo-Dioulasso, pupils and students from the city of Sya attended on Saturday March 11, 2023, a screening of an adapted film works by the writer, Dr Dramane Konaté. The literary works of the writer, Dr Dramane Konaté, on violent extremism, the fight against stigmatization and radicalization have been adapted to the cinema, through a short film. Inspired by the reality of terrorist threats, this ten-minute short film was screened on Saturday March 11, 2023, on the occasion of the Mini Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) in Bobo-Dioulasso . Through this capsule, the author intends to raise awareness among young people about these scourges that are a blow to living together. “As they say that a picture is worth a thousand words, so going from writing to screen only invigorates the spirit for an awareness of the scourges that undermine our society, including part of the youth” , explained Dr. Dramane Konaté. Many schoolchildren and students stormed the Maison de la culture Monseigneur Anselme Titiama Sanon for this screening session. “This awareness film taken from my literary works, makes young people aware of not letting terrorists be drawn into the nets”, said Dr Konaté, at the end of the screening with the pupils and students of Bobo-Dioulasso. . Also, through this film, young people are invited to work to establish a climate of harmonious living together. As a result, the semiologist and university teacher to call young people to reading to better immerse themselves in the realities of society and the evolution of the world. ‘A youth that does not read is a youth that naturally loses its bearings. In our works we talk about those endogenous values ??that should benefit and inspire the youth. This is why, in addition to this film which is a summary of my works, I invite young people to read to better discover the realities of our society’, said Dr Konaté. The writer also asked young people to draw inspiration from ancestral, endogenous values, reference and cardinal values ??which are the fundamentals of peace, social cohesion and living together. Student in 1st A class, Karidia Lognongon Ouattara welcomed this screening session which allowed her to better understand the themes addressed in the adapted works. “We students don’t like to read, but with opportunities like this that allow us to be in contact with authors, it encourages us to read,” she said.
