Bougouriba: The Homeland Defense Front (FDP) supports the families of fallen combatants. The Sissili provincial branch of the Front for the Defense of the Homeland (FDP) demonstrated its solidarity this Saturday, April 11, 2026, with the widows and orphans of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) who fell in the line of duty. The ceremony, during which donations of food and a financial contribution were distributed, took place at the High Commission in Leo, presided over by the provincial authority, Tewende Isaac Sia.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Front for the Defense of the Homeland (FDP) gesture of solidarity consists of 43 80kg bags of corn and 100,000 CFA francs. This contribution aims to ease the daily lives of the families of soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
The National Coordinator of the FDP, Lassane Sawadogo, emphasized that this action is part of the civic organization's duty to show gratitude. "Our defense and security forces have sacrificed themselves in the field, giving their lives for the survival of Burkina Faso. Our duty is to support them, starting with ensuring they have enough to eat," he declared. He further specified that this initiative, already in its second year at the police station, is intended to be repeated throughout the country.
Responding to questions about the movement's momentum, Mr. Sawadogo affirmed that citizen vigilance is not waning, but rather adapting to the security context. "Citizen vigilance is not weakening; it is evolving. It is not limited to just the roundabouts. Today, it also involves organizing collections and conducting awareness campaigns. If the physical presence has decreased, it is because our security forces have succeeded in stabilizing the situation." He reiterated the FDP's full commitment to supporting the vision of sovereignty of the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traore.
The Provincial Coordinator of Sissili, Mamoudou Kologo, for his part welcomed the visit of the national office and reassured the beneficiaries of the FDP's constant availability to support them should they need it.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the families, the High Commissioner of the Sissili province, Tewende Isaac Sia, expressed his gratitude. "Rest assured that your donation will be passed on to the appropriate authorities. On behalf of the beneficiaries, I would like to thank you warmly for this act of solidarity. We strongly encourage you to continue this commitment."
The ceremony was held in the presence of local military and paramilitary authorities, thus marking the strengthening of the link between civilian watchdog organizations and combat forces.
