Home and Business Owners in Murang’a South Urged to Enhance Security

Murang'a: Following a wave of insecurity in Murang'a south sub-county, the officer commanding Kenol police station, Chief Inspector Albert Kipchumba, has implored home and business owners to enhance the security details of their premises. The areas most affected include Kenol, Githanji, Kagaa, Wempa, Gikono, and Katipanga.

According to Kenya News Agency, Chief Inspector Kipchumba emphasized that improving premises' security will deter potential threats even as the security team works to ensure the protection of life and property. He urged property owners to upgrade door locks, as thieves have become adept at bypassing modern security measures.

The Chief Inspector advised using burglar-proof locks to make it more difficult for criminals to gain access to properties. Additionally, he recommended ensuring pathways are well-lit to enhance security and safety. He suggested installing solar security lights to aid monitoring during blackouts.

He reiterated the security team's commitment to daily patrols and responding to distress calls within Kenol town and the surrounding areas. He stated the importance of installing high-resolution CCTV surveillance for effective monitoring and evidence collection.

Chief Inspector Kipchumba also encouraged residents to share information that could help curb insecurity, assuring them of confidentiality. He emphasized collective efforts in fighting crime.

Peter Maina, the business community chairperson, praised the security team's efforts, noting that the town's growth comes with increased crime. He expressed optimism that with collaborative efforts, Kenol town would become a safe haven for businesses.
