Windhoek — In a remarkable showcase of efficiency and service, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security earned two prestigious awards at the recently concluded 2024 Windhoek Industrial and Agricultural Show. Recognized for their rapid processing and issuance of national documents, the ministry has set a new standard in public service delivery.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the Ministry was honored for its exceptional service in issuing identity cards (IDs) within a notably swift 48-hour window. Chief Public Relations Officer, Magaret Kalo, highlighted the significant improvements made during the show, where traditional two-month wait times were dramatically reduced. The Ministry's exhibit managed to distribute IDs to 838 applicants, a testament to the enhanced operational efficiencies brought on by advanced technologies and a dedicated team focusing on document verification and printing tasks.

Kalo elaborated on the ministry's approach, "Business process re-engineering has been instrumental in cutting down on the time required to process and issue IDs." This optimization was well-received at the Windhoek showgrounds, drawing larger crowds to the ministry’s stand due to its convenient location and the quick service it promised.

Besides IDs, the ministry also processed 230 birth registrations, 355 passports, and two citizenship applications during the event. Their efforts were acknowledged with the Gold Diploma for the indoor category and the Best Service Provider award for the second consecutive year, underscoring their ongoing commitment to excellence.

"We are here because of the public, and this recognition demonstrates our commitment to providing them with excellent service," stated Kalo, affirming the ministry's dedication to serving the community efficiently and effectively.
