Homa Bay Seeks 16 Recruits in National Police Drive

Nairobi: The National Police Service (NPS) recruitment exercise in Homa-Bay County was conducted successfully on Monday, with officials praising the high turnout and orderly handling of the exercise as well as cooperation of candidates. Police Superintendent, Daniel Ashkobe, who oversaw the process, said the service aims to enlist 16 new officers from Homa Bay Constituency as part of this year’s recruitment exercise.

According to Kenya News Agency, Ashkobe stated that the allocation this year is around 16 recruits from Homa Bay Constituency, and the process has been conducted without any issues. The candidates reported on time and showed cooperation throughout the exercise. He noted that the exercise remains thorough and transparent, with applicants undergoing several stages of evaluation, including age verification (18-28 years), academic checks, physical fitness tests, and medical examinations to ensure only qualified individuals advance.

Ashkobe reiterated that the recruitment is strictly corruption-free, urging parents and applicants not to engage in bribery. He emphasized, ‘This is a corruption-free zone. I urge parents and youth to avoid engaging in any kind of bribery activities.’

The drive attracted a large number of hopefuls, including several who did not make it but expressed determination to try again in future opportunities. Carlos Otieno, a local youth who has previously attempted to join the Kenya Defence Forces and the Kenya Prisons Service, and now the National Police Service but did not qualify, said he remains determined to pursue a career in uniform. ‘I will keep trying because serving in uniform is my dream,’ he said.
