Zorgho: His Majesty Naaba Sanem sends his wishes for peace and solidarity for the new year. For his New Year wishes, His Majesty Naaba Sanem, customary chief of Zorgho, called for unity, forgiveness, and solidarity for 2025. Faced with the challenges facing Burkina Faso, he urged the population to work for peace and social cohesion.
According to Burkina Information Agency, His Majesty expressed his desire for the new year to be marked by forgiveness and peace. He recognized the ongoing absence of peace in parts of Burkina Faso and called on the population to exhibit forgiveness and unity to resist divisive forces. “We invite the entire population to show forgiveness and to be united so that the enemy does not destroy us,” he declared.
Highlighting the impact of insecurity on the nation and its institutions, he warned, “Without peace, there is no development. I am the chief of Zorgho, but if there is no peace, the chieftaincy has no importance.” He lamented the predicament of some traditional chiefs who have been compelled to abandon their localities due to insecurity.
Naaba Sanem acknowledged the efforts of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), urging them to persist in their mission to restore peace. He also encouraged the public to back national authorities in their pursuit of reconciliation. “Let us help the president and his entourage so that they succeed in bringing peace to the country,” he appealed.
Addressing the youth, he advised moderation and responsibility during the end-of-year celebrations, reminding them that the country remains in a state of unrest. “I ask the youth to be moderate in the celebrations, because the country is not at peace. When peace is restored, everyone will be able to rejoice as they wish.”
His Majesty concluded with hopes that in 2025, forgiveness, solidarity, and peace will steer the actions of every citizen towards a united and prosperous Burkina Faso.
