High Commissioner Par© Stresses Government’s Secular Stance at Nayala Customs Celebration

Zouma: The government does not favor any religion over another, High Commissioner Nayala. During the celebration of Customs and Traditions Day in Zouma, the Haut- of the Nayala province, Honor© Fr©d©ric Par©, called for unity and secularism, affirming that the government does not favor any religion over another.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Mr. Par© began his speech with a minute of silence in tribute to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) who fell on the field of honor. He recalled that the day of customs and traditions, established by decree on March 6, 2024, aims to promote ancestral values and celebrate Burkinabe culture.

He encouraged followers of traditional religions to express themselves and cultivate the authentic values of their traditions. The High Commissioner also recognized the importance of the Nayala River, which flows through the village of Zouma, as a symbol of protection and benevolence for the residents. He praised the efforts of the organizing committee and invited traditional and religious authorities to actively participate in this celebration.

The village's grievances, presented by the education inspector, Mr. Thomas Garan©, highlighted the challenges of infrastructure, education, and electrification, underscoring the need for increased support from the authorities. In response, the High Commissioner promised to address these concerns and work for the development of the region, while recalling that the country faces significant challenges due to insecurity.

This day was an opportunity to strengthen community ties and celebrate the cultural identity of the Nayala province, under the banner of unity and resilience.
