Loroum: The High Commissioner of Loroum Province, Captain Djibril Bassole, presided over the monthly flag-raising ceremony, held at the Titao B public primary school, on Monday, May 4, 2026. During the ceremony, Captain Bassole reviewed the significant projects and activities conducted throughout April 2026.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was marked by a gathering of students, teachers, and members of the constituted bodies, who sang the "ditanye" in unison to raise the national flag. The security forces utilized this occasion to educate students on state symbols and the correct procedures for flag protocol.
Captain Djibril Bassole emphasized the importance of these monthly ceremonies as opportunities to disseminate provincial news and reinforce the progressive and popular revolution initiatives supported by the country's highest authorities. The province saw the relaunch of USSUBF after a decade-long hiatus, the celebration of "buy local" day, and participation in the final phases of the National Culture Week in Bobo.
During the cultural event, Souleymane Ouermi, the provincial director in charge of Secondary Education in Loroum, secured third prize in the Grand National Prize for Arts and Letters (GPNAL) for the literature category, theatre genre. Additionally, Loroum was represented by two candidates in the culinary arts, beverage category. Captain Bassole extended congratulations to the winner and commended all participants for their efforts.
Furthermore, Captain Bassole announced the upcoming day of customs and traditions on May 15th, urging the residents of Loroum to celebrate and promote cultural identity. He also inaugurated African Languages Week and International Mother Language Day during the ceremony.
