KONGOUSSI — The High Commissioner of the Bam province, Adama Jean Yves Béré, has called for broad public involvement in community entrepreneurship efforts, emphasizing the importance of popular shareholding for economic development in the region. At a well-attended public conference in Kongoussi on August 3, 2024, Béré showcased the initiatives of the National Agency for the Promotion of Community Entrepreneurship (APEC) designed to spur economic growth and sustainability.

According to Burkina Information Agency, secretary general of the Cooperative Society with Board of Directors ‘Building the Future’ (SCOOP-CA/BA), Sanoussa Sawadogo, APEC, which is collaborating with SCOOP-CA/BA, has launched four key projects aimed at enhancing the region’s economic landscape. These include the installation of drilling operations to improve agricultural output, the establishment of two tomato processing plants in Bobo-Dioulasso and Tenkodogo, on-site gold production, and the creation of a purchasing center to support local producers. Sawadogo highlighted that these initiatives, with an estimated cost of 100 billion FCFA, rely heavily on local investments through share purchases.

The High Commissioner, alongside Abel Dayamba, the prefect president of the special delegation of Kongoussi, both personally invested in the projects, demonstrating their support and commitment. Béré urged the residents of Bam to contribute by purchasing shares, underscoring that the success of these initiatives hinges on community involvement. “APEC is a project initiated by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. This is why I invite you to register massively for the success of the project,” Béré explained during the conference.

APEC representatives are currently stationed at the Kongoussi town hall, with registrations for participation still open to the public.
