High Commissioner Issiaka Segda Urges Rural Stakeholders to Embrace Agro-Pastoral Policies

Tuy: High Commissioner Issiaka Segda has urged rural stakeholders to take ownership of the agro-pastoral policies promoted by the authorities, emphasizing the importance of achieving food sovereignty. This call to action was made during a national flag-raising ceremony held at the provincial directorate of Agriculture, Animal Resources and Fisheries of Tuy.

According to Burkina Information Agency, High Commissioner Issiaka Segda addressed the rural community, highlighting the need for a new dynamic rooted in responsibility, solidarity, professionalism, and patriotism. He stressed the importance of embracing the agro-pastoral policies endorsed by the country's highest authorities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Segda expressed his admiration for the rural community, including producers, livestock breeders, input suppliers, and processors, recognizing their essential role in building the nation's food sovereignty. He acknowledged the crucial contributions of these individuals, who through their daily work, not only sustain the population but also bolster the economy and embody the hope for a prosperous Burkina Faso.

Mr. Segda also extended his gratitude to the agents of the provincial directorate of Agriculture, Animal Resources and Fisheries of Tuy. He praised their unwavering commitment to supporting producers through technical guidance, promoting innovations, advocating for sustainable practices, and structuring the rural landscape. These efforts, he noted, form the foundation of the country's agricultural resilience strategy.

He encouraged continued momentum in these initiatives to achieve food sovereignty through agro-pastoral and fisheries offensive actions. The national flag-raising ceremony occurs monthly on the first Monday, rotating through different departments in Hound©, with the next event slated for August 4, 2025, at the provincial directorate in charge of Humanitarian Action in Tuy.
