High Commissioner Hosts Traditional Chiefs Ahead of Day of Traditions and Customs

Ouagadougou: A delegation of traditional chiefs at the High Commissioner has met with the province's High Commissioner, Saba Zorom©, as a prelude to the celebration of the Day of Traditions and Customs scheduled for May 15. This meeting took place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, and included the Secretary General of the province, Adams Davou, as well as the Provincial Director in charge of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Abdoulaye Kagamb©ga.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the objective of the exchange session was to gather the opinions and suggestions of the guarantors of traditions regarding the organization of the event on May 15. The meeting aimed to identify potential challenges and provide appropriate solutions to ensure the success of the celebration. The customary delegation, led by Paulin Nama, welcomed the initiative, highlighting its contribution to strengthening social cohesion.

The traditional chiefs made several proposals and promised to return with more detailed contributions after consulting their superiors. They expressed gratitude to the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, for establishing this day dedicated to traditions, highlighting its importance in demonstrating his commitment to the country's cultural values.

The High Commissioner encouraged the traditional leaders to continue their efforts in promoting cultural heritage. He emphasized the importance of customs and traditions in development and urged the chiefs to organize various activities throughout the province to mark the day.

The Day of Traditions and Customs, first celebrated in 2024, is part of the month of cultural heritage, which takes place from April 18 to May 18, 2025.
