High Commissioner Honors Kongoussi Municipal Police on 30th Anniversary

Bam: The High Commissioner of Bam Province, Karim Ouedraogo, paid tribute to the Kongoussi Municipal Police during the final national flag raising of the year 2025 at the Kongoussi Municipal Police Command.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this December's flag raising was a gesture of recognition for the Municipal Police, which is celebrating three decades since its inception in 1995.

In his speech, High Commissioner Ouedraogo lauded the Municipal Police for their vital role in maintaining order within the municipality. He highlighted the police's contributions to public order through traffic regulation, management of commercial spaces, and crime prevention. Ouedraogo also emphasized the support the police provide to defense and security forces.

The High Commissioner expressed his congratulations to the Municipal Police for their professionalism and dedication, noting their efforts occur in a challenging security environment. He emphasized that their work contributes significantly to a peaceful living environment in Bam.

Ouedraogo further reflected on the positive developments in 2025, citing the modernization of public services and enhanced administrative capacities. He acknowledged the support from provincial stakeholders and technical and financial partners.

In discussing security reorganization, he announced the recent departure of the Kongoussi Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade and affirmed the National Police's new role in ensuring internal security. Ouedraogo concluded by urging the Municipal Police to continue their diligent work and maintain their integrity, viewing the flag raising as a symbol of national pride and a step towards a peaceful 2026.
