Heavy Rain Causes Significant Damage in Zabre

Zabre: Torrential rain accompanied by violent gusts of wind hit the commune of Zabre on the evening of Thursday, May 15, 2025, causing significant material damage to both public and private infrastructure.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the head of the departmental Agriculture service, Souleymane Go, reported that 60 mm of rain fell within a few hours. The disaster, beginning around 7 p.m., particularly affected several key areas of the commune.



Among the affected public infrastructure, the building housing the library and staff room of the departmental high school had its roof torn off. The solar panels of urban CSPS 1 and 2 were blown away, while the roof and metal beams (IPN) of the Sampema CSPS were damaged. Additionally, the traffic light located in front of the Zabre Caisse Populaire was uprooted.



The prefect and president of the Zabre special delegation, Alain B. Bassono, indicated that he had informed his superiors, including the high commissioner of Boulgou province. He also launched an appeal for solidarity, inviting people of goodwill to come to the aid of the victims.



Aside from public buildings, several homes and businesses were roofed, and numerous trees were uprooted or severely damaged. Fortunately, no loss of life has been reported at this stage.
