Heavy Goods Vehicle Traffic Halted on RN20 Due to Bridge Damage

Ouagadougou: Heavy goods vehicle traffic is suspended between Ouessa and Dissihn: Heavy goods vehicle traffic is suspended on the RN20 between Ouessa and Dissihn, following the deterioration of the bridge located over the Mouhoun River.

According to Burkina Information Agency, a section of the bridge over the Mouhoun River, at the Ouessa exit on the Ouessa-Dissihn axis, is damaged. A gaping hole has formed in this infrastructure, revealing the reinforcing bars, making the movement of certain categories of vehicles dangerous.

In a press release published on Thursday, August 28, 2025, the governor of the Dj´r´ region, Siaka Barro, informed the population and users of national road no. 20 (RN20) that the circulation of heavy goods vehicles is suspended on the section between Ouessa and Dissihn following this deterioration.

The Governor calls on the general public, and users of the RN20 in particular, especially those using light vehicles, to exercise caution and respect temporary signs and safety instructions.

He also reassured that technicians from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Disenclavement are working to restore traffic as quickly as possible.
