Omuthiya: A 43-year-old Namibian male succumbed to his injuries at the Onandjokwe State Hospital after he was involved in a head-on collision, which occurred on Saturday at Omalindi village, some six kilometres from Omuthiya Town, on the B1 Road.
According to Namibia Press Agency, a Namibian Police Force (NamPol) weekend crime report on Sunday indicated that the deceased, who was the driver of a silver Toyota Hilux, was travelling from Ondangwa towards Omuthiya when he reportedly collided head-on with a silver truck that was travelling from the opposite direction. The driver sustained serious head injuries, and his three other passengers sustained minor injuries.
The 52-year-old Zimbabwean male truck driver and his 24-year-old male passenger, also a Zimbabwean national, sustained no injuries.
In a separate incident on Friday at around 07h45 at Omulunga Village in the Okankolo Constituency, the lifeless body of 50-year-old Amagulu Paulus was reportedly discovered hanging from the roof of his room with a rope around his neck. No suicide note was found, and his next of kin have been informed.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old Namibian male pedestrian sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to the Onandjokwe State Hospital on Friday, after he was reportedly struck by a white Mazda pick-up. It is alleged that the 68-year-old male driver failed to stop at a T-junction in the Onayena area at Onathinge and struck the pedestrian who was standing next to the road. The vehicle continued and further crashed into a boundary wall of a bar near the road. The incident happened at around 08H00, and the driver sustained no injuries.
In an unrelated incident, unknown suspects used an unknown object to cut open the roof of a bar in the Onethindi location at 05H30 on Saturday, where they reportedly stole N.dollars 14,745.00 in cash. The suspect allegedly went on to break the door to the entrance of the bar and took one jackpot machine valued at N.dollars 111,415.00, using a getaway vehicle. No recovery or arrests have been made yet, and the suspects remain unknown at this stage.
