Head Of State Considers AU Presidency A Victory For Angolans

Addis Ababa: President Joo Louren§o considered on Sunday, Feb 16, in Addis Ababa, that chairing the African Union is a victory for Angolans. This is the very first time that Angola will be at the helm of the continental organization founded in 1963, so “Angolans are to be congratulated,” he highlighted.



According to Angola Press News Agency, the President admitted, in statements to the press, that it will be a mandate with many challenges, mainly in the area of peace and security, as the continent is going through a difficult time in that regard. Additionally, it is a challenge in terms of trying to boost the countries’ economies as much as possible.



President Louren§o emphasized the importance of mobilizing resources for infrastructure development across the continent. He mentioned the need for roads, railways, and airlines that operate between African countries to minimize the dependency on travel to other continents.



The focus will be on roads, railways, airports, and energy infrastructure as key areas to boost the economy, as highlighted by President Louren§o. He took over the African Union presidency during the 38th Summit of Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa.
