Head of State Awarded ‘Energy Sector’s Personality of the Year’

Luanda: The African Energy Chamber has awarded President Joo Louren§o the title of 'Personality of the Year in the Energy Sector' for his commitment to good governance, reform, and the fight against corruption in Africa.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the award, promoted by the chamber based in South Africa, acknowledges President Louren§o's significant role in transforming Angola into one of the largest oil and gas producers on the continent. His strategic vision aims to consolidate Angola's position as a regional oil hub in Africa, as highlighted in an article on the website energychamber.org.

The publication notes that NJ Ayuk, the Executive Chair of the African Energy Chamber, recognized the Angolan leader's influence not only in Angola but also in fostering investment and development across the African oil and gas sector. Ayuk emphasized the President's commitment to structural reforms, collaboration with international entities, and the implementation of clear objectives, which have shaped Angola's current energy market.

Since his election in 2017, President Louren§o has focused on restructuring the Angolan economy, particularly the oil and gas industry. His long-term strategy for revitalizing the sector has led to several crucial milestones. By 2025, Angola is projected to continue its positive growth trajectory in the energy sector, having introduced more adaptive investment models, resulting in a notable increase in investment across all stages of the energy value chain.

The President of the Republic has set clear targets for the country, including plans to maintain oil production above a million barrels daily (bpd) beyond 2027, increase the capacity of the natural gas sector and faster green energy's development.
