Hawks Investigate Fatal Robbery of Fidelity Security Guard in Limpopo

LIMPOPO – The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, known as the Hawks, in Limpopo Province, is conducting a rigorous search for suspects involved in the robbery and murder of a Fidelity Security guard on Saturday, November 25, 2023.

According to South African Police Service, the incident occurred around 15:00 when Fidelity Security guards, traveling on the R37 road near Thokgwaneng village in the Mecklenburg police area, were ambushed. Their armored vehicle was forced to a halt after being rammed by a Mercedes Benz. The armed suspects reportedly fired shots at the vehicle, robbed the guards, and fled with an undisclosed amount of money using a silver BMW 3 series as their getaway car.

During this violent attack, three guards sustained injuries, and tragically, one guard succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital.

The Hawks are actively seeking information from the public that could lead to the arrest of the suspects involved. Warrant Officer Mojapelo, contactable at 071 481 6876, is handling the case, and the public is also encouraged to report any pertinent information to their nearest police station. Additionally, the Hawks have issued a caution against tampering with the crime scene, as some members of the public reportedly picked up money scattered around the area.

Major General Gopz Govender, the Provincial Head of the Hawks in Limpopo Province, has directed the investigative team to diligently pursue the suspects and ensure they are brought to justice.
