Hardap: Several constituencies in the Hardap Region reported mixed voter turnout on Wednesday morning, while others saw slower activity, according to updates from Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) returning officers.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Rehoboth Urban East saw a steady flow of voters throughout the morning. Returning officer Shishileni Pemehafo noted that voting stations were consistently busy. Similarly, Gibeon experienced regular voter activity, with returning officer Jonathan Maharero confirming a continuous presence at the polls.
Aranos reported substantial participation, including from mobile teams on farms. Returning officer Ivan Coetzee highlighted the high turnout, with many people utilizing both fixed and mobile voting points. Maltah¶he began the day with robust voter engagement, as noted by returning officer Jonker Frederick, who anticipated an increase in turnout post-work hours.
Kalkrand experienced significant early turnout, with returning officer James Hansen reporting close to 100 voters early in the morning and a queue of about 50 people by 10:00 am. In contrast, Stampriet saw minimal activity, with returning officer Elizabeth Isaacks describing the situation as very quiet and noting a lack of queues.
Mariental Urban also experienced a slower pace, with voters arriving sporadically and completing the voting process without any delays. Across the Hardap Region, which boasts eight constituencies and over 55,000 registered voters for the regional and local authority elections, polling stations opened at 07:00 and will close at 21:00. Those still in line at closing time will be allowed to vote.
