Windhoek: Hardap Region Governor, Riaan McNab, has urged all regional leaders, stakeholders, and inhabitants of Hardap to collaborate in order to overcome social and economic challenges and deliver better services and sustainability.

According to Namibia Press Agency, during his closing remarks at the State of the Region Address held Wednesday in Mariental, McNab appealed to all in the Hardap Region to recommit themselves to progress and unity. He emphasized the importance of dedication and collective effort.

McNab stated, "I call upon every leader, every stakeholder, and every citizen of Hardap to embrace a renewed spirit of dedication and hard work as these challenges before us are great, but so too is our potential to overcome them through unwavering commitment and collective action."

He appealed for the rejection of the notion of 'business as usual' and adaptation to the 'not business as usual' principle. "Our people deserve better service delivery, improved livelihood, and sustainable development. It is our solemn duty to rise above complacency and to deliver tangible results that will transform lives," said McNab.

Looking forward, he listed the priorities the Office of the Hardap Governor would focus on for the next five years, which include expanding Hardap's agricultural potential, unlocking regional resources for sustainable economic growth, and empowering the youth through targeted initiatives and skills development to address unemployment.

Additionally, McNab pledged to expand access to high-quality education and vocational training, assist the creative sector as a catalyst for innovation and job creation, and upgrade housing and sanitary facilities. His office also seeks to guarantee needy areas access to comprehensive social welfare services and high-quality healthcare.

McNab highlighted that corruption has no place in the Hardap Region, stating there is zero tolerance for any corrupt activity in the region and declaring his commitment to demonstrate ethical leadership in the interest of the inhabitants of the region.

He also urged the regional leaders and partners to familiarize themselves thoroughly with the sixth National Development Plan (NDP 6) and the developmental blueprint of Namibia's 8th Administration, as these frameworks will guide them towards inclusive growth, social equity, and prosperity for all the residents of Hardap.
