Hardap Education Directorate to Implement Interventions for 2026 Academic Improvement

Hardap: Hardap Education Director Paulus Lewin announced that the directorate will introduce several interventions in the 2026 academic year aimed at enhancing learner performance and improving the region's national ranking.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Lewin's comments were in response to the region's drop from 13th to 14th place in the 2025 Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary level (NSSCO) and Advanced Subsidiary (NSSCAS) level examinations. The director highlighted a significant increase in the number of learners qualifying for AS level, from 13.8 percent to 25.7 percent between 2024 and 2025, prompting the implementation of a comprehensive five-year strategic plan in early 2025 to improve performance across all grades.

Lewin emphasized the importance of enhancing learner outcomes at foundational and junior secondary levels, not just at NSSCO and NSSCAS levels. The strategic plan outlines twelve objectives, including improving learner performance, results, and service delivery efficiency.

The directorate is also prioritizing the continuous professional development of teachers and staff throughout the region. Extensive training initiatives, launched last year, are designed to enhance staff capabilities, enabling them to perform their duties more effectively.
