Hapsatou Doro Spearheads Luxury Industry Development in Africa

Abidjan – Hapsatou Doro, the Franco-Senegalese director of communications agency Digital Society, is organizing the third annual Forum des métiers du luxe (Luxury Business Forum) in Abidjan on December 13 and 14. The event aims to spotlight training opportunities in luxury and fashion sectors, particularly for African youth who lack access to this information.

According to Africa News Agency, the two-day forum will feature six training sessions and six conferences, each panel comprising five experts from various African countries, France, and Switzerland. The agenda includes discussions on the development of African fabrics, arts and crafts, and digital technology’s role in advancing craftsmen and entrepreneurs.

Doro envisions the forum as a pan-African institution that bridges professionals from Africa and Europe. The previous editions have attracted around 400 qualified professionals eager to learn about the luxury market in Africa.

Abidjan, known as West Africa’s luxury capital, was strategically chosen to host this event. Hapsatou Doro aims to model the African luxury sector after France’s renowned luxury industry, considering France’s global leadership in luxury brands and Africa’s burgeoning creativity and expertise.

Doro’s vision extends beyond the forum, aiming to create synergies and professionalize a sector with immense potential. She emphasizes the need to cultivate an environment where African companies can upscale and sell their products internationally, inspired by French luxury industry models.
