ELOOLO, OKAKU CONSTITUENCY — Former school principal and Ohangwena Education Director Isak Hamatwi advised learners to focus on their education and avoid short-term temptations that could hinder their future success. Hamatwi delivered his message during an awards ceremony at Eloolo Combined School for the Onamutai Circuit, emphasizing the importance of discipline and commitment to educational goals.
According to Namibia Press Agency, engaging in behaviors such as skipping classes, neglecting homework, arriving late to school, disrespecting teachers, and indulging in harmful activities like drinking alcohol or smoking could have lasting negative effects on students’ futures. He highlighted the need for learners to prioritize their education as a path to a rewarding future that benefits themselves, their families, and the broader community.
Onamutai education inspector Josefat Haimbala provided additional insights into the educational structure of the circuit, which comprises 24 public schools serving grades from pre-primary through 11, and one private school that offers education from pre-primary to grade 7. Haimbala noted the circuit’s organizational model, which includes four clusters designed to make education more accessible and effectively managed across the region.
The 2024 academic year sees the Onamutai Circuit accommodating 10,941 learners, with an almost equal distribution of boys and girls. The ceremony recognized the best-performing learners, teachers, and clusters from the 2023 academic year, with a total of 119 learners, 30 teachers, and 14 schools receiving awards for their achievements.
The event at Eloola aimed to celebrate the hard work and determination of students and educators, reinforcing the community’s commitment to academic excellence.
