Guiriko: The Regional Blood Transfusion Center hosted the monthly raising of the national colors this Tuesday, presided over by the Governor of the Guiriko region, Mariama Konat©/Gnanou. This event provided an opportunity to reaffirm the patriotic commitment of stakeholders in the region to the ideals of civic duty, solidarity, and development.
According to Burkina Information Agency, during the ceremony, the Governor highlighted the main government actions undertaken in the region and urged the population to maintain their support for national priorities. She expressed her satisfaction with the selection of Guiriko as the host for the national celebration of World Blood Donor Day in 2027, inviting all stakeholders to make this event a success. "Blood donation is an act of profound civic and patriotic significance. Giving blood is giving a chance at life to others," she declared.
Mariama Konat©/Gnanou also called on the population to support government initiatives, including the agropastoral offensive, the promotion of civic responsibility, sanitation actions, and the strengthening of security, to contribute to the rebuilding of Burkina Faso.
The regional director of the Regional Blood Transfusion Centre, Alain Konseybo, invited various bodies, local authorities, companies, religious and customary communities, associations, and all citizens to make voluntary blood donation a true civic duty. He also expressed gratitude to partners who supported the center with a donation of equipment worth over 25 million CFA francs, aimed at sustainably strengthening its technical facilities. "I invite all public and private partners to join this initiative, because investing in blood transfusion is investing in life," he stated.
The raising of the national colors highlighted the importance of patriotism, solidarity, and civic engagement, while also raising awareness among the population about the need for voluntary blood donation for the benefit of the sick.
