Guiriko: 710 New Judicial Police Officers Ready to Strengthen the Criminal Justice System

Houet: The National Training Center for Non-Commissioned Officers of the Gendarmerie (CNQSOG), located at the Kuinima camp in Bobo-Dioulasso, celebrated this Friday the completion of training for the 28th class of Judicial Police Officers (OPJ), providing the National Gendarmerie and several African countries with 710 new judicial police officers, including 40 women and 26 foreign trainees.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was presided over by the Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie, Colonel Issa Yaguibou, in the presence of the Governor of the Guiriko region, Mariama Konat©/Gnanou, as well as numerous administrative, military, paramilitary, judicial, customary, and religious authorities. This event marked the culmination of five months of intensive training.

The training commenced on January 25, 2026, with trainees hailing from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Mali, Niger, and Senegal. They underwent a 786-hour program combining theoretical courses, practical exercises, conferences, seminars, investigation simulations, visits to jurisdictions, and immersion in a prison environment.

The curriculum comprised topics like criminal law, criminal procedure, judicial investigation techniques, forensic science, economic and financial crimes, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing, and criminal identification techniques. New modules on environmental law, forensic medicine, and cybercrime were also introduced in this session.

On behalf of the class, delegate Pengwend© Dieudonn© Ou©draogo emphasized that the completion of their training signifies the beginning of greater responsibility, urging his peers to perform their duties with competence, impartiality, and adherence to republican values.

Lieutenant Mohamed Karambiri, the director of studies and training at CNQSOG, encouraged the new OPJ officers to exhibit discipline, rigor, and integrity in their roles. This new promotion reinforces the National Gendarmerie's commitment to having qualified personnel to bolster the fight against insecurity, protect populations, and consolidate security cooperation within the sub-region.
