Guiri-Guiri School Clinches 2026 OSCEP Title in Zondoma

Ouagadougou: The Guiri-Guiri school from the Basic Education District (CEB) of Bassi triumphed in the final of the 2026 OSCEP season, held in Gourcy. The school emerged victorious over Al Wahdatoul from CEB Gourcy 2, winning on penalties after a tightly contested match organized by the Provincial Directorate of Preschool, Primary, and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF) of Zondoma.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the match began with an early goal from Al Wahdatoul's Salam Guiro, promptly answered before halftime by Guiri-Guiri's striker, Ayouba Sawadogo. Despite consistent pressure from Bassi's team in the second half, they were unable to score, pushing the game to a penalty shootout. Guiri-Guiri outperformed their opponents, securing the win by converting four penalties compared to Al Wahdatoul's two.

The victory awarded Guiri-Guiri the 2026 championship title, along with a trophy, 75,000 FCFA, two sets of jerseys, and two balls. Meanwhile, Al Wahdatoul received 50,000 FCFA, two sets of jerseys, and two balls for their efforts.

Karim Sawadogo, head of education in Zondoma, expressed satisfaction with the event's success and acknowledged the support of partners, particularly the traditional chiefs. He noted that the school year concluded positively, highlighted by strong exam performances.

High Commissioner Aboubacar Sidiki Nabe expressed his honor in presiding over the event, especially as it involved young children. He praised the efforts of the Provincial Director of Education and his team in organizing the event despite challenges.

This victory marks the second consecutive win for the CEB of Bassi, following their 2024 triumph. The final standings placed the CEBs of L¨ba, Boussou, Gourcy1, and Tougo in subsequent positions.
