DAKAR — Guinea-Bissau’s President Umaro Sissoco Embaló has praised the decision by Senegal’s President Macky Sall to postpone the country’s presidential election, describing it as a “wise decision.” Embaló expressed his commendation through a post on his X account on Saturday, highlighting the decision made on February 3 after consultations aimed at ensuring future elections in Senegal are more inclusive, fair, and credible.

According to Burkina Information Agency, “I extend my sincere congratulations to President Macky Sall of Senegal for the wise decision, taken this February 3 after consultation, to postpone the presidential elections, with the aim of moving towards future elections that are more inclusive, fairer and more credible,” Embaló stated. The announcement reflects a gesture of diplomatic support and recognition of efforts to strengthen the democratic process in the region.
