Great Wall of China Continues to Draw Visitors from Around the World


BEIJING — The Great Wall of China, renowned for its historical significance and architectural grandeur, remains a popular destination for both local and international tourists. Stretching over 21,198.98 kilometers, this ancient fortress was originally constructed to protect the Chinese people from invasions.



According to Burkina Information Agency, a tourist guide, the Wall not only symbolizes national pride but also commemorates the thousands of workers who perished during its construction. Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, it attracts numerous visitors eager to learn about its storied past. Christine Coulibaly, a journalist for Burkina National Television, shared her awe of the structure, reflecting on the immense effort required to build such a monument in a predominantly mountainous terrain.



Coulibaly’s visit, along with 24 other Burkinabè journalists, was part of a training seminar focusing on China’s development. Their experiences highlighted not only the Wall’s historical and cultural importance but also its role in showcasing the capabilities and resolve of the Chinese people through centuries.
